I
base my massages in the Swedish Massage technique that I describe in the Massage Benefits page. This is very
relaxing and therapeutic and can be done with Strong, Medium or Light pressure - the pressure level is up to you.
While working on your muscles, I may find tightness and knots. When I do, if you desire, I can use Deep Tissue techniques
to get deeper into the muscle layers and work out the tightness. This sometimes causes discomfort, so I ask my clients
to tell me how the pressure is along the way so that I can give them the type of massage the want.
I can also us
Trigger Point Therapy on certain knots, if that is something you like (many people like it, but some do not).
This is done by applying fairly strong, deep pressure to the knot and holding it until the knot relaxes.

Sometimes
I employ stretching in the massage, especially in a 90 minute session. Stretching is done after the muscles are warmed up
and can help to improve flexibilty and range of motion.

There
are some contra-indication for massage - i.e. conditions that might prevent me from being able to give you a massage. High
blood pressure, circulation disorders, blood clots, heart disease, and others. If you have a medical condition that you think
might be an issue, you may wish to have your doctor write you a note that indicates if massage is OK, and includes any guidelines,
as well as the doctor's phone number. It is always best to be honest with your therapist so that they can treat you appropriately.
I request that all new clients fill out a confidential medical history form so that I can best assess how to administer a
safe and effective massage.
